I'm fundraising to support youth mental health research...
Three in four Australians will experience a mental health challenge by the time they turn 25. Orygen works with young people, their families and friends, to develop new, positive approaches to preventing and treating mental disorders.
It’s been a challenging year for us all, and most of us could probably use some help in bouncing back towards a more positive state of mind.
That’s why this October I'm joining the Burpee Bounce Back Challenge – I'll be helping my own mental health by increasing my physical activity, and helping others by fundraising for mental health research so that young Aussies whose mental health isn’t going great can bounce back too.
The research, training and advocacy Orygen does has helped me improve my work as Occupational Therapist who supports young people. Orygen enrols young people as co-creators of change and elevates the voice of young people in addressing youth mental health challenges.
Please help me by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about Orygen, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Strategies...Monday 12th Oct
I have a chart! Each circle on each day represents a group of 10 burpees. The boys and I will tick each circle as we go and do at least 90 burpees a day.
Figuring out a strategy for recovery in mental health can be hard but finding small achievable moments can make a difference. Celebrating little victories is important!

Then & NowMonday 28th Sep
Now when faced with the younger version of me I know what to say (mostly, still learning!) and there are more ways to access help. But we need to do better.
A whole of life challengeThursday 24th Sep We will all be affected my mental health challenges & we need to work together to create health systems that integrate mental health care into all aspects of the health system. Working with young people (& my experiences back when I was a young person) has highlighted to me that there is no separating body and mind. Generating quality evidence to support a variety of interventions and approaches to addressing positive youth development is key to improving youth health outcomes.
Supporting Orygen's work is a way to be a part of improving youth health systems in Aus.
